Sabine & Didi with Egusin SLH
A few weeks ago, my horse Didi started showing some very strange behavior with saddling. Namely biting. Didi had already had wounds and pressure spots around the girth, so I was very upset. At first I thought that the new girth was not a success, even though she walked much better with it. So I immediately sent a message to Kassie from Akas Saddlery. Because when I have doubts, I want to talk to good specialists. But the longer I thought about it, the more I got the feeling that this had another cause. Didi seemed a bit out of sorts, not feeling well. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Jeroen van Oostveen came to our barn for another horse and I asked him if he could use his magic camera to see if something was going on with the stomach. He said, "Of course I can see that," and yes, her stomach was a glowing ball. Okay, very likely so an ulcer. Jeroen tipped me to try the product Egusin from Greenvalley Health Products. He had seen good results with it. And yes, I then make the choice not to have it scoped, because more stress on the stomach is not going to help her. The bucket of Egusin was quickly at hand and so I bravely gave her the Egusin twice a day for 2 weeks. In addition, I changed my own feeding policy, because I didn't do that quite handily out of sheer laziness. Serves her right for having stomach problems. The first few days I saw little result in the work (lunging). After two weeks the Egusin was gone and I had definitely seen improvement, even when saddling Didi didn't bite anymore. But she was still not 100%. Three days later she turned and I had my horse back. Loose in body, tight underline, relaxed topline, the way I like to see my horses. Lunged with saddle today and no difference, just as good again. I can ride again soon! All in all Didi is feeling much better after 3 weeks. Egusin is great! How lucky I am to have a team of horse people around me who know me well enough to understand the solutions I want for my horses. Thanks Jeroen for the tip and your quick response. And thanks Rita for your quick delivery and aftercare. We are going to have a wonderful Christmas without stomach problems! Sabine and Didi |
