Some horses are afraid of the sound of a spray or aerosol. This is why we have developed a special dispensing cap. By putting this dispensing cap on the bottle, you can apply and massage the liquid between the mane and tail. The spray head and dispensing cap are included free with every order.

Causes of summer eczema in horses and ponies

Summer eczema, also called tail and mane eczema, is an itchy skin condition in ponies and horses. It is caused by an allergic reaction to the saliva of midges (culicoides mosquitoes). The eczema is often visible at the mane comb, at the base of the tail and sometimes on the head and belly. Eczema in horses occurs mainly during the summer months, but the mosquitoes are sometimes active from late February to November.

Keeping midges away from horses

It has been scientifically proven that most flying insects are repelled when the skin is treated with fatty acids. Insects land less on the skin and are less active. The composition of Happy Skin Skin Spray is carefully tailored to this.

Supports immune system

Unlike common mosquitoes, midges bite their prey. They suck blood and solidify it with their saliva. The proteins in the saliva can cause a violent immune system reaction in horses or ponies that are more sensitive to this. Research shows that specific monoglycerides have a proven effect in suppressing a strong immune system response.

Supports recovery of affected skin

Scouring by itching delays the healing of wounds and increases the risk of bacterial infection. Research shows that fatty acids and monoglycerides have proven antibacterial activity against the bacteria that can cause skin problems in your horse. Happy Skin Skin Spray is a combination of fatty acids and monoglycerides.

Interaction between skin and gut

Skin, stomach and intestinal health are closely related. With gastrointestinal problems, we often see skin abnormalities as well. Does your horse have eczema problems? If so, support your horse's intestinal system as well.
