Question & answer

  • What is the difference between Happy Skin Skin Spray and Happy Skin Buzz Off ?

What is the main difference between these two products is that the Skin Spray is actually a combination of the Buzz Off and the Skin Gel.

Do you have a horse with summer eczema? Then we recommend using the Skin Spray, it repairs the skin and supports with chafing and itching.

    2. Do you ride outside a lot or go on long rides? Then use the Buzz Off.

  • How do I achieve the best results with the Skin Spray?

The Skin Spray works best if you use it on the entire horse, the easiest way is to work from front to back:

    1. Lubricate the sensitive areas on the head, think of the jaw line and under the front pluck. You do this easily with the dispensing cap.
    2. Spray or pour on the entire mane roots, it is at the roots where the midges prefer to sting.
    3. Then spray in the chest and legs, preferably massaging so the spray not only gets on the coat but also on the skin.
    4. Then spray on the meridian line (belly seam) and the quiver or udder.
    5. Spray on the back and belly and massage in so that the skin spray actually gets on the skin.
    6. Finally, use the skin spray on the tail end, don't be too sparing and massage in well.

We recommend leaving an eczema or fly rug off when using the Skin Spray. Do you want to put a blanket on anyway? Then make sure the skin spray has dried on the skin first, this prevents it from scalding and irritating under the blanket.

  • Can I use the Happy Skin Skin Gel for other wounds as well?

Absolutely, the action of the skin gel is not summer eczema specific. Our Skin Gel has a unique action due to the use of monoglyceride and vegetable fatty acids. The specific proportions of ingredients create a component that provides the affected skin with a protective layer. This layer ensures that the affected skin is protected but not completely sealed. Our Skin Gel has been presented at the International Veterinary Scientific Congress (the VWHC) in Paris (2022).

  • After several days, I see white flakes at the moon's base. What is that and can it hurt?

This is a good sign, the treatment with our Happy Skin products accelerates the recovery of the skin. What you see are flakes of skin, this means that the old skin has been replaced by a new layer of skin.

  • Can I safely use the Happy Skin sprays on my pregnant mare or a mare with a foal at foot?

Absolutely, all ingredients in our Happy Skin line are based on natural components and therefore harmless to other horses or foals.

  • Is an eczema blanket necessary?

A blanket is basically not necessary if you treat your horse well with Happy Skin Skin Spray daily and Happy Skin Buzz Off three times a week.

  • Are your products doping-free?

The components of our products are not on the Equine Prohibited Substances List 2021 (December 1, 2020).

  • How soon can I expect results from the Happy Belly Solid?

The active ingredient in Happy Belly Solid, calcium butyrate, takes about 3 to 4 weeks to do its work in the gut. Start with 1 scoop to get the horses used to the taste. Within a week you can give the desired dosage.

For best results, we recommend feeding Happy Belly Solid throughout the year, including the winter months. This way you maintain the so-called "mirror" in the intestine, of course you can adjust the dosage down a bit during the winter months.

  • My horse is a poor eater, what tips are there for feeding Happy Belly Solid?

Most horses will eat Happy Belly Solid without any problems if you feed it through their daily feed. If you have a picky eater, here are the following tips:

1 If you start with Happy Belly Solid it is important not to give the full recommended dose right away, feed this slowly so the horse can get used to the taste.
    2. Provide Happy Belly Solid through slobber, give it through the slobber. It is important not to soak it or use hot water, as this will dissolve the coating and prevent the important calcium butyrate from entering the gut.
    3. Add a few pieces of carrots or apples to the slobber or concentrate to neutralize the taste of the Happy Belly Solid, or use apple sauce.
    4. Don't feed kibble? Then our advice is to sprinkle the Happy Belly Solid between 2 pieces of bread which you spread with apple syrup, for example.
